E. O.

Joined AMCON INC. in 2024 (Mid-Career Hire)

  • DepartmentProcurement Department, Production Control Unit Water and Environmental Machinery Division

E. O. works in the Procurement Department, handling import and export operations. While managing a wide range of responsibilities, including international logistics arrangements and customs documentation, she is also successfully balancing work and parenting through a shortened working schedule. We spoke with her about the welcoming atmosphere she experienced before joining the company and her current way of working.

A Company That Made Me Feel I Could Work Here with Confidence

Q. Why did you decide to join AMCON INC.?

In my previous job, I was responsible for import operations from overseas to Japan at a building materials trading company. Over time, I wanted to become involved in a broader range of import and export activities, including preparing customs documentation and coordinating with freight forwarders, which led me to consider changing jobs.
I was attracted to AMCON INC. because it offers many opportunities to work with overseas partners in a global environment. During the interview process, I was also impressed by the positive atmosphere and the way employees worked together cooperatively, which made me feel that this was a place where I could work comfortably for the long term.
What impressed me even more was how seriously the company engaged with me even before I joined. They carefully discussed my future working style with me, and I felt that the company truly demonstrates its commitment to valuing employees through actions, not just words. That made me want to work here even more.

Delivering Products Reliably to Customers Around the World

Q. What is your current role?

Currently, I am responsible for logistics arrangements related to imports and exports, delivery schedule coordination, communication with shipping companies and freight forwarders, and the preparation and verification of customs documents. I frequently communicate in English with overseas customers and affiliated companies, and my responsibilities cover a wide range of tasks, including schedule management and troubleshooting. Every day, I work to ensure products are delivered safely and smoothly while balancing various factors such as delivery deadlines and costs.
As I am originally from China, I also have many opportunities to communicate with our group companies in China in my native language, which allows me to make use of my background. Because there are differences not only in language but also in culture and ways of thinking, I always try to communicate with an understanding of the other person's perspective.

Every Day Brings Something New

Q. What do you find rewarding about your work?

Import and export operations can be challenging because rules and business practices differ from country to country and region to region, meaning things rarely proceed in exactly the same way. At the same time, that is what makes the work interesting. Unexpected issues such as weather conditions or port situations can arise, but coordinating with all relevant parties and successfully delivering cargo brings a great sense of accomplishment. I find it rewarding that the work is constantly changing and that I am always learning.

Support from Those Around Me Makes It Possible to Balance Work and Parenting

Q. What aspects of the workplace make it easier for you to work while on a shortened schedule?

Import and export operations often require unexpected responses, so it can be challenging to prioritize tasks within limited working hours. Time differences with overseas contacts add another layer of complexity, so I always try to work as efficiently as possible. At the same time, my colleagues are very supportive, and I am grateful for the environment where people naturally step in to help when needed.
Information is easily shared within the team, and both managers and team members are approachable when I need advice. Because of this supportive atmosphere, I can work with confidence even on a shortened schedule.

Aiming to Handle an Even Wider Range of Projects

Q. What are your goals for the future?

Going forward, I would like to deepen my knowledge of import and export operations and become capable of handling projects involving countries I have not yet worked with. I hope to develop the skills needed to support any project so that the company's operations can continue smoothly. I also plan to continue studying English and further improve my ability to communicate effectively with overseas partners.
