What Makes It Interesting Is That Things Don’t Always Go as Planned

K. I.

Joined AMCON INC. as a New Graduate in 2016

  • DepartmentWater Supply and Drainage Equipment Maintenance Division

K. I. joined AMCON INC. because he was attracted by the company culture and the people. Today, he plays a key role in supporting the division, handling everything from on-site work and customer service to managing schedules for the entire team. We spoke with him about the rewards of his work, his sense of personal growth, and the appeal of working at AMCON INC.

Joining Because of the People and the Atmosphere

Q. Why did you join AMCON INC.?

During my job search, I did not have a specific career path in mind, so I considered a wide range of industries and positions, including sales, retail, and manufacturing. Through company information sessions and interviews, I was impressed by the bright atmosphere and the positive relationships among employees at AMCON INC.
Compared with other companies, the people I would be working with were especially appealing, and that ultimately led me to join the company.

A Role That Covers Everything from Field Work to Administration

Q. Please tell us about your current work and responsibilities.

Currently, I am responsible for a broad range of tasks, from on-site work to report preparation, quotations, and customer support. Each property has an assigned contact person, and I take full responsibility for the projects under my care.
I am also responsible for managing the team’s overall schedule, coordinating staff shifts and responding to change requests from property management companies and residents to ensure operations run smoothly.
Because the role involves field work, administrative tasks, and coordination, it requires the ability to oversee the entire operation and act accordingly.

The Rewards Are Receiving Direct Appreciation and Seeing Personal Growth

Q. What do you find rewarding about this work?

I find it rewarding to visit customers’ homes directly, solve problems, perform cleaning work, and receive appreciation from customers in person.
When I was a student, I had no knowledge of facilities or construction work. However, I learned from senior colleagues in the field and gradually expanded my knowledge. The professional manners and skills I learned during new employee training have also been very useful when dealing with customers.

An Environment Where Life Events Are Also Valued

Q. You took parental leave. What was the experience like?

When my child was born, I took two months of parental leave. Work continues for many years, but the time immediately after childbirth is limited, so I decided to take leave because I wanted to value that important period.
Two employees in the division had already taken parental leave, so I did not feel any anxiety or hesitation about doing the same. The atmosphere was very accepting, which allowed me to take leave with peace of mind.
After taking parental leave, I realized once again how important time with family is, and I am grateful to work in an environment where it is possible to balance work and personal life.

Developing Judgment and Problem-Solving Skills in the Field

Q. What are the challenges and interesting aspects of this work?

Because equipment conditions and site circumstances differ from one location to another, things do not always go as expected. Even with advance preparation, problems can arise during the work.
Making the best decisions while assessing the situation can be difficult, but it is also interesting to see how experience improves both the speed and accuracy of those decisions.
I believe it is an environment where I can improve my own skills while learning directly from experienced senior colleagues and observing their judgment and responsiveness.

Enhancing Technical Skills and Expanding What I Can Handle

Q. What are your goals for the future?

My goal is to become capable of handling everything independently, from emergency response to construction work. Since it is impossible to memorize every type and condition of equipment at every site, I would like to continue building experience and improving my ability to respond effectively.
I also want to help improve the technical capabilities of the entire team, not just my own. By expanding the range of services we can provide, I hope to deliver even greater value to our customers.
