A Key Person Driving Business Growth Across Multiple Departments

H. Y.
Joined AMCON INC. mid-career in 2024
- DepartmentDirector of the Sales Administration Unit, Manager of the Technical Service Department and the International Sales Department Water and Environmental Machinery Division
Before joining AMCON INC., Mr. H. Y. worked mainly in the semiconductor industry, gaining extensive global field service experience. He initially joined as a Team Leader in the Technical Service Department and, within a short period, expanded his responsibilities to become the Department Manager and later the Head of the Sales Administration Unit.
We spoke with Mr. H. Y., who has reviewed the existing service structure and implemented new initiatives since joining the company, about the appeal of working at AMCON INC. and his vision for the future.
An Immediate Sense That It Looked Interesting and an Environment for Global Challenges
Q. Please tell us about your career to date and why you joined AMCON INC.
I first learned about AMCON INC. through a recruitment scout message. My first impression came when I watched the president’s video message and thought, “This company seems interesting.”
In my previous job, I worked mainly in service operations within the semiconductor industry. However, at large companies, the areas where you can work are often limited, and I wanted opportunities to work across a broader range of regions. In that respect, I was attracted by the fact that AMCON INC. has many installation achievements and offers opportunities to work in various locations both in Japan and overseas.
Another reason I decided to join was the speed of the recruitment process, which gave me a strong sense of the company’s quick decision-making and momentum.
Overseeing the Entire Business While Remaining Active in the Field
Q. Please tell us about your current responsibilities and role.
Currently, as Head of the Sales Administration Unit, I manage sales progress for the Water and Environmental Machinery Division. In addition, as General Manager of both the Technical Service Department and the International Sales Department, I oversee their respective initiatives and sales performance.
At the same time, I am involved not only in management but also in field operations as an engineer, including on-site work in the Kyushu region and overseas.
While maintaining a broad view of the business as a whole, I place great importance on understanding field operations and serve as a bridge between the organization and the workplace.
Changing the Nature of Service: From Reactive Response to Preventive Proposals
Q. Please tell us about the initiatives you have worked on since joining the company.
When I joined, Technical Service operations were primarily focused on reactive repairs after equipment failures or performance deterioration had already occurred. As a result, the team was often occupied with urgent customer requests, placing a heavy burden on field personnel.
I therefore believed we should fundamentally redesign maintenance planning and shift to a system that proposes maintenance before problems occur. Together with the team, we considered what would be necessary to provide comfort and convenience through equipment by carrying out planned maintenance according to customer budgets, and we developed and implemented initiatives accordingly.

Flexibility and Execution Capability Support the Company's Growth
Q. How do you view AMCON INC.'s potential?
I believe AMCON INC. is a company capable of providing the kind of flexibility that large corporations often cannot. Many people here seriously consider how to respond to customers’ challenges and requests for products or services they would like to have, and then take action. The foundation for continued growth is already in place, and I believe the environment strongly supports that growth.
People Who Succeed Are Those Who First Take Action
Q. What kind of people do you think can succeed at AMCON INC.?
I think people who can first say, “Let’s give it a try,” and take action are the ones who succeed. By trying, they learn how to improve areas where they were not successful, continue refining their approach, and expand their capabilities through repeated success experiences. Those who grow through both failures and successes and create their own opportunities to excel are the ones who thrive.
Building a Structure That Delivers Value Globally
Q. Please tell us about your future goals and the challenges you would like to take on.
Going forward, I would like to deliver AMCON INC.’s dewatering presses to even more customers who are not yet familiar with them. To achieve this, I would like to actively visit countries and regions where I have never worked before and gain a direct understanding of local needs.
At the same time, I would like to further strengthen our support structure so that customers can use our products with confidence regardless of their country or region. Building a system capable of providing stable service globally is my goal for the future.
