Background
A water treatment plant in Malaysia operates multiple large filter presses for sludge dewatering.
However, issues such as equipment aging, labor-intensive filter cloth cleaning, and high water consumption for washing have become significant challenges.
To address these issues, AMCON proposed its latest sludge dewatering system, the VOLUTE DUO™.
Highlights
1. Containerized All-in-One System
AMCON supplied a fully integrated mobile system, including sludge dewatering equipment, polymer preparation, and dosing pumps in a single package. It also allows flexible use as a mobile dewatering unit for temporary or multi-site applications.
2. High Performance & Efficiency
The VOLUTE DUO™ offers fully automated operation, including sludge cake discharge and self-cleaning, eliminating the need for constant operator attendance.
It also significantly reduces power and washing water consumption, lowering overall operating costs.
The system achieves a high capacity of approximately 40 kg-DS/h, compared to 8 kg-DS/h for HR-241, while maintaining a compact footprint.
3. Low Clogging Risk
Conventional single-screw systems are prone to clogging, especially with inorganic-rich sludge, often requiring heavy maintenance.
The VOLUTE DUO™’s dual-screw design continuously breaks and conveys sludge, significantly reducing clogging risk.
This allows stable operation even under aggressive conditions aimed at achieving lower moisture content.
Conclusion
The VOLUTE DUO™ demonstrated strong performance in automation, energy efficiency, and dewatering capability.
The end user provided highly positive feedback, and the project has moved forward toward full-scale system replacement.
